Hi!
My name is Hafeezat. I am an aspiring multimedia producer. I have a love of storytelling as many of my peers know and I have a desire to share another one, the story of Black Muslims living in America.
Sadly, the portrayal of Muslims in the media has been truly one dimensional, allowing for stereotypes and false racialization of the religion to cause people to be ignorant of what and who the religion is made up of. It’s my goal with this documentary to show one of the many parts that make Islam beautiful, and to show how the history of Black Muslims in America is much deeper than folks think.
The funds of this GoFundMe will be added to the grant I received for the making of this documentary to cover travel, paying my associate producers, donating to causes, and booking spaces for interviews to take place. Any support at all is much appreciated!
