Help Make My Avo’s Dream Come True

Since I was a little girl, I’ve always known one thing about my Avó: she’s dreamed of going on a cruise. She used to say, “Oh, it would be my dream to go on a cruise! One day, when I have the money, I’ll go—even if I have to go alone.” But life has never made it easy for her to save for such a dream.

Over the years, my Avó has faced more challenges than most people could imagine. For the past 15 years especially, she has been through so much—dealing with health issues, heartbreaking losses, and, most of all, standing by my grandfather as his battle with alcoholism became an even bigger struggle. She has carried an unimaginable weight, doing everything she can to make ends meet while facing the constant fear of losing her home.

And yet, through it all, she has always shown up. She has been the rock of our family. Every time I visit her, there’s always food on the table, warmth in her home, and love in her heart. She has never let her hardships dampen her spirit or her ability to care for others.

This year, my family and I, along with a group of friends, are going on a cruise for the very first time. But as much as we would love to have her join us, we simply cannot afford to cover her trip. I can’t stand the thought of her missing out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity—a dream she has carried for so many years.

This is why I’m reaching out, hoping to give her the gift she so deeply deserves: the chance to finally take that dream cruise. To be surrounded by her family and best friends. To have a moment of joy and relaxation after all the sacrifices she has made.

My Avó has spent her entire life putting everyone else first. Now it’s time for her to have something for herself. This cruise wouldn’t just be a trip; it would be a celebration of her resilience, her love, and her unwavering strength.
