Who are we?
LUCY Outreach is a multi-lingual, culturally responsive youth development center that works to improve the lives of under-served youth. We offer programs and services to low-income Camden County youth and young adults, ages 7-28, and their families. 94% of LUCY’s youth participants live at or below the poverty line, attend underperforming schools, and have limited access to higher education and fair wage employment opportunities.
LUCY Programs Include:
· Afterschool/Evening Programs
· Summer Programming
· Support Services – including LGBTQIA+ Haven Group
What Sets Us Apart?
LUCY is open evenings, weekends and summer; staff on 24-hr call for youth and family support. Some highlights include:
· The only youth LGBTQIA+ youth program in Camden city; an invaluable “safe space” In Camden
· Free transportation and meals provided for all programs, daily
· Emergency Family Assistance Fund
· College Scholarship Fund
By the Numbers:
Since 2008, all 409 active seniors have graduated high school.
Upon graduating:
✔ 366 enrolled in college (of which 94% are first generation!!)
✔ 18 enlisted in the military
✔ 14 in trade/technical
✔ 11 into careers
*Since 2019, 94 LUCY youth have graduated from a four-year college!
LUCY’s Graduates are giving back to their city of Camden in impactful ways, including summer and year-round positions at LUCY, Nurses at Virtua and Cooper, teachers in the Camden City School District and Charter Network, community activists, Social Workers, Police Officers, small business owners, and 23 are continuing on for their Masters and PhDs.
