Hi friends! My name is Kyong Bell, and I’m raising support for my friend and colleague, Dien Thach, as she gets closer to her dream of opening her own family-run bakery, Sweet Deetails in Artesia, CA. I have worked with Dien for 5 years as part of the decorating team at Sweet & Saucy Shop in Long Beach, CA. She has proven to be one of the most talented and hardest working cake artists I’ve known in my 10+ years in the industry. I am so lucky to have collaborated with her. We even got an opportunity to compete together on Food Network’s, Winner Cake All (and we won!).


Now Dien is preparing to take the next step in her life and career—taking a giant leap of faith (and finances) at opening her own shop. With the current pandemic, it is certainly not an ideal time to be starting a new business; but she found a retail space opportunity that may not come again soon and, after much deliberation, signed the lease. With her life partner, Billy, at her side, and the motivation of their daughter the small family faces the difficult challenge of making this work.


Dien has had to quickly learn the ins-and-outs of business ownership—the myriad of permits, fees, equipment, insurance and general logistical gymnastics. And as many who have experience with running a small business know, they are struggling to meet the financial needs just to get the doors open. They are close, but need just a little more help to get there.

Easing the burden of the bakery rent while it remains unable to open
