Help Make David's New Home a Reality

As many of you know, David Kennedy recently lost his lifelong caregiver, his grandmother Betty. David lived with his grandparents from the age of 3, after losing his father at 5 months old and being abandoned by his biological mother only two years later. David considered Ms. Betty to be his mother, calling her ‘momma’ and assisting with her care as much as she assisted with his. The loss of Ms. Betty has been extremely difficult for David, and as his family we have struggled in determining how we can give him the best life possible now that she’s passed.

David suffers from significant intellectual disabilities and requires a little extra help in his day-to-day life. Fortunately, Itawamba Crossroads Ranch is available to offer that help.

Itawamba Crossroads Ranch exists “to provide high functioning, special needs adults a safe, loving environment with supervised independence.” Not only will Crossroads Ranch provide a home for David, they will also provide daily learning activities, spiritual and peer involvement, and a sense of community. In Ms. Betty’s last months of life, she and David lived in Oak Tree nursing home, and David enjoyed getting to socialize with the residents and staff every day. He often requests to go back and visit the friends he made in his short time there. At Crossroads, David will be able to regularly socialize and make long-term friendships within the community provided, in addition to the learning opportunities he will receive.

We truly believe that David will be very happy here, and we can’t wait to visit him and hear about his friends and adventures.

David will be moving to Crossroads on November 6, 2021 and he couldn’t be more excited. We would love if you would come on this journey with us by assisting with some of the necessary finances that contribute to David’s care. The cost of being a part of the Crossroads Residential and Vocational Community is approximately $2,500 a month. Whether it is a one-time donation or a monthly-partnership, any contribution will be eternally recognized and appreciated by our family. Your gift truly couldn’t mean more to us, or to David.
