Help make David L. Hines’s final wishes come true.

It is with a humble and heavy heart that we are reaching out to the community for help to raise funds to fulfill the final wishes of an incredible family man and veteran.

Anyone who ever knew David L. hines, knew a kind, generous man who went out of his way to help friends, family, acquaintances, and even strangers in any way he could. David never asked for anything in return.

David was proudly serving his country as a sailor in the U.S. Navy when he met his wife of 46 years, Debra. Together, they had four daughters, and have nine grandchildren. After his years in the service, David worked as a maintenance machinist at Seneca Foods in Dundee NY to support his young family.

Tragically, Dave became permanently disabled 33 years ago, when his youngest daughter Jennifer had just turned two years old. He became a dedicated stay-at-home father, famous for his homemade apple pie and delicious breakfasts. He passed his love of baking onto his first grandchild, Rebecca, who he helped raise so his daughter Jessica could finish high school and start a career. David and Debra took in many friends and family members over the years who needed a place to stay. David was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren’s accomplishments. He always encouraged us to follow our dreams.

When he wasn’t taking care of his family, Dave enjoyed doing small engine repairs for folks in need. Foranyone who couldn’t afford the trip to the shop, David fixed broken down cars, lawn mowers, tractors, and appliances. He was always giving with his time, and would meet you with an easy smile and a witty joke.

David passed away on Memorial Day at just 64 years old, at the end of an 11 year health battle. He surpassed doctor expectations, trajectories, and recovered from life support three times. David was a strong, brave man who always pushed through for his family. It is now our turn to honor his life and all he gave us.

David had his heart set on being buried in the Tyrone, NY cemetery next to his parents. Our family’s savings were drained over the course of his illness to pay for numerous ambulance rides, hospital visits, and give him a safe home after a house fire this winter. While many of those bills are still outstanding,we only want to be able to give Dave the plot, casket, funeral service, and head stone he wanted to honor all that he did for his family, community, and country.

Please consider assisting us, as no donation is too small. Any bit would help so much to help grant David's final wishes. Thank you for reading, and thinking of our family in this trying time.
