My name is Ángela Varo. I am a violinist, composer and arranger originally from the beautiful town of Baena in Andalusia, Southern Spain.

Since I was a little girl, my dream has been to be a musician because I believe in the power of music as a tool of social change and storytelling. I own everything I have to my culture, roots, family, and music.

Three years ago, I emigrated from Andalusia to Boston to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, where I perform a double degree in Jazz and Flamenco Performance, Contemporary Writing and production, and a Minor in Theory of Jazz and Popular Song. I also have the privilege of studying at the Global Jazz and Jazz and Gender Institute.

Since six months ago, I have been working on my first recording project: Dançâ del Aire (Dances of The Air.) It focuses on the emigration after the Spanish Civil War and the importance of social change through music and with music. This is a project that celebrates the Andalusian, ROM, Mediterranean and Global Culture, the emigration, my hometown Baena and its people, and the story of our families.

I believe that, thanks to the power of music and the incredible team of musicians, engineers, and people who collaborate on this album, (Who come from more than 8 different countries and all of them emigrants); this project will create a social change and generational healing.

For that I need your help. As an emigrant, daughter and granddaughter of emigrants, money is the only thing stopping me from completing my dream.

Immense love and passion for what I do are how I have achieved my goals in the past. My family and I have been working non-stop since the day I got the violin in my hands, even more, when I moved to the states. After all the possible sacrifices, my family and I couldn't afford to finish up this project without a little bit of help.

Mi nombre es Ángela Varo. Soy una violinista, educadora, compositora , productora y arreglista originaria del bonito pueblo de Baena en Andalucía, Sur de España.

Desde niña, mi sueño ha sido ser músico, pues creo en el poder de la música como herramienta de cambio social y narración de historias personales y ancestrales. Agradezco enormemente la cultura, raíces, familia y música en la cual me he criado, ya que van de la mano con mi ser, y mi visión del mundo y la industria musical.

Hace tres años, emigré de Andalucía a Boston para estudiar en el prestigioso Berklee College of Music, donde curso un doble grado en interpretación de Jazz y Flamenco, Composición Contemporánea y Producción, y un Minor en Teoría del Jazz y Canción Popular. También tengo el privilegio de estudiar en el Global Jazz Institute y en el Jazz and Gender Justice Institute.

En los últimos seis meses, he estado trabajando en mi primer álbum, llamado Dançâ del Aire (Danzas del Aire.) Se centra en la emigración después de la Guerra Civil Española hasta la actualidad y la importancia del cambio social a través de y con la música. Dançâ del Aire, es un proyecto que celebra la cultura andaluza, gitana, mediterránea y global, la emigración, mi pueblo natal (Baena) y su gente y la historia de nuestras familias.

Con ello, presento mi música original en Fusión Jazz, Flamenco e influencias gitanas, ROM y mediterráneas .- Confío en que, gracias al poder de la música y al increíble equipo de músicos, ingenieros, y personas que colaboran en el album, (provenientes de más de 8 países diferentes y todos emigrantes); este proyecto presentará un importante cambio social, gracias a la música y en pro de la sanación generacional.

Aquí es donde necesito tu ayuda. Como emigrante, hija y nieta de emigrantes, el dinero es lo único que me impide completar este gran sueño.

El amor y la pasión enormes que tengo hacia lo que hago son la manera con la cual he logrado mis metas en el pasado. Mi familia y yo hemos estado trabajando sin parar desde el primer día que tuve el violín en mis manos, y aún más, cuando me mudé a los Estados Unidos. Después de todos los sacrificios posibles, no podemos permitirnos completar este proyecto sin un poco de ayuda.
