About 2 months ago, she was diagnosed with late-stage Cirrhosis of the liver. It then very quickly progressed to liver failure. My dad, Tony, and I are doing everything possible to get the best care for her, and unfortunately that care is costly. Although it is a lengthy and vigorous process, we are hoping she will be eligible for, and accepted to the liver transplant list. But until then, her medical expenses - treatments, tests, insurance, and medications - are starting to pile in.
Until we know what is the best plan moving forward, whether that be a transplant or a living donor, she will be staying at the hospital, where she will be safe and under 24/7 care. I hate to have to be writing this, and we hate to be in this situation at all. My mother is the best woman I know. She is a sweet, empathetic, and nurturing human, she does not deserve this. She is like a second mother to most. I love her with my whole heart and soul, and knowing the outcomes of this horrible disease, we have to be prepared for anything thrown our way as a family.
My extended family and close friends have come together to figure out what is best for her, and with the kindness of you all, I sincerely hope we can make that happen. My mom deserves nothing but the best. Your donations would help my father and I pay for her many medical expenses, which are already becoming a little overwhelming. This is the start of a long and painful road, but we remain hopeful and positive through it. I hope you will too. Thank you all so much.
