Help Make A Film That Proves Life is More Than a Job
Donation protected
This fundraiser is to contribute to a short film about a man who is stuck in his office cubicle as strange things stop him from completing his day-to-day tasks. We follow this man, as the workplace destroys him slowly and painfully. If you have ever felt complacent in the workplace, then you will resonate with this story.
It invites you on an exhilarating, passion-driven thrill ride. We need your support to make this film the best it can be. Please consider making a donation to help us bring this project to life and share this story.
Our film is about the struggle of working for a job that doesn’t bring you joy. As film students, we are passionate about making careers that make us happy and creative.

A Statement From the Writer
I have lived a quarter of a human’s average lifespan, and the amount of times that I have been told “Your job is not supposed to be something you enjoy”, is much too many times to count. I find this phrase fascinating because, at the root of it, this saying is only normalizing the oppression of the working class.
I find it very real and unfortunate the looming presence of an unfulfilling career that I—alongside many other young Americans—are faced with after completing our education. Admitting this is the first step for people to understand that this reality affects, or has affected every one of us. After speaking with many people about this project, one thing that consistently sticks out is the theme of the film, highlighting the universal fear of working a non-enriching job for the rest of your life in order to simply “live”. My one wish from this project is to create a piece of art that connects to the audience telling them that they’re not alone and that through unity we can eventually change the iron-fisted system that uses us for profit.
As someone who truly believes that there is more to life than work and individuality, this story is made to value people and encourage them to think that they deserve to enjoy themselves and appreciate their community. With that being said I took stylistic and thematic influences from some of my favorite surrealist comedies—-Atlanta, Sorry to Bother You—and horror movies—It Comes at Night—, to convey said message in a way that people would find entertaining to watch. I hope, from the bottom of my heart, we can get the appropriate funding for this film so our production team can make a project that will leave a lasting impression on everyone who watches it.
A Statement From the Director
Before we even considered creating this project together, a good friend shared that writing has always been his strength and that he loves channeling his thoughts into fictional stories. I mentioned my creative passion and desire to be involved in every step of the process. He then showed me this script he’d been working on. After reading it, I was instantly hooked and flooded with ideas for how to bring it to life.
Sharing our thoughts felt like talking into a mirror, as the experiences shaping the story seemed universally relatable. My goal was not to simply portray the drudgery of a typical office job, but to capture the feeling of mental unraveling that can accompany it. I envisioned a film that is dark and oppressive, with the sounds of the office droning in and out, building tension that leads to a breaking point. Inspired by works with a strong sense of liminality, this project aims to explore the absurdities of a complex society rather than just remind viewers of the monotony of daily life
