Help make a dream take form! Viking Boat Form!
Donation protected
Thank you for joining us on a journey of rediscovery. During Covid, 3 friends during shutdowns decided to try making a replica Norse boat, a Færing, a four oared craft as a working model. Could they build a boat that floats?
They did.
That færing is the cover photo. That test model has lasted 5 sailing seasons and we have learnt so much. Now it is time to build the true vision. A Sæxringr, or 6 oared ship. 26 feet long and 6 feet wide (abeam). We can do it with a little help to get started.
Your donations will help us lay the Keel and purchase the starting materials to help us build this project. We hope to showcase her at the Islendingadagurinn amoung other cultural gatherings and events.
We are a small group of friends and Viking Age enthusiasts trying to rediscover woodworking and smithing techniques used 1300 years ago. Our test model proved we can do it, and with your help we will complete a dream that took 20 years to make a reality.
