My name is Makayla Taylor and I am a Senior at The University of North Carolina at Wilmington majoring in Clinical Research. I have been given the incredible opportunity to study abroad in Italy in February 2026, and I'm asking for your support in helping make this life-changing experience a reality. I have worked tirelessly throughout my academic journey, dedicating myself to the field of clinical research with the goal of making a meaningful impact in healthcare. This study abroad program will not only broaden my academic horizons but also allow me to immerse myself in a new culture, gain global perspective in my field, and grow both personally and professionally.

This experience provides a unique opportunity to explore the historical and modern healthcare systems in Italy, focusing on the evolution of both physical and mental health care. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how Italy’s approach to nursing and healthcare has developed over time. This comparative experience will enable participants to critically analyze the differences and similarities between the Italian and U.S. healthcare systems, fostering a broader perspective on global healthcare practices while enriching their nursing education, cultural competence, and empathy.
