Hi friends,
As many of you know, my sweet Lucy passed away recently. She was my best friend, but to me, she was so much more. She was my soul dog—my calm, my joy, my baby, my everything. For 10 years, Lucy was the one who carried me through my hardest moments with anxiety, BPD, and depression. She always seemed to know when I needed her most.
Since losing her, I’ve been having panic attacks almost every single day—sometimes multiple times a day. When Lucy was here, she could sense them before they even fully hit me. She would press close to me, and my breathing would just steady, and calm me in ways nothing else ever could. Without her, I feel raw, untethered, and alone in those moments.
The house feels so empty without her, and even Dante (my other dog) is grieving. He wanders looking for her, missing his companion just as much as I do.
I know some people may think it’s “too soon,” but the truth is—I need the comfort and grounding of another emotional support dog to help me heal, and Dante needs a new friend too. This isn’t about replacing Lucy—no one ever could—it’s about carrying forward the love she gave me, and finding some light again in the middle of this grief.
There’s a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy available, and the cost is $1,700 due by November 9th. That’s more than I can manage on my own right now. If you’d like to help, even the smallest contribution would mean the world to me. Every single dollar truly helps.
Thank you for reading this, for sharing, and for holding me in your thoughts during this painful time. Your support—whether through donations, kind words, or simply passing this along—means more than I can ever say.
With love and gratitude,
Makayla
