My name is Makayla, and I’ve always dreamed of celebrating my quinceañera—a tradition that means so much in my culture. Growing up, my family hasn’t always had the means to throw big celebrations, so being able to have a day that’s just for me would be truly special. For many girls, a quinceañera is a once-in-a-lifetime moment, and I’ve looked forward to it since I was little. I don’t need a huge party or an extravagant dress; what matters most is being surrounded by laughter, joy, and the people I love.

Recently, I posted a video on TikTok asking if anyone was selling their quince dress for a low price, and I was overwhelmed by the kindness of strangers—some even offered their dresses for free. This support gave me the courage to start this GoFundMe and try to make my dream a reality. My plan is to celebrate at my uncle’s house to keep things affordable, but there are still costs for food, music, and decorations that my family and I can’t cover on our own. I’m organizing this on my own, and while I have my mom and close family, I’m especially proud of myself for taking this step and reaching out for help.
