Maisy is my sweet dog who I rescued from a very bad situation about two years ago. She has brought so much love and joy into my life, and her birthday is coming up next week—she’ll be turning two years old. As a single mom who works and goes to school full-time, my pets are a part of my family as much as my children—anybody who knows me knows that. They are my reason to persevere, even on the hardest days.

This morning, Maisy had to be rushed to the emergency vet. She has an abscess on her back near her spine and a serious infection that requires her to be sedated for treatment. The cost of her care is more than I can manage on my own right now, but I want to do everything possible to help her recover and celebrate her birthday healthy and happy.
