Help Maislee Recover from her "Space Rock"
On Tuesday, May 5th, five-year-old Maislee’s parents, Tim and Rebecca, rushed her to the ER after she began having seizure-like symptoms. Overnight testing confirmed what doctors suspected: Maislee was experiencing focal seizures. She was admitted to the hospital for additional testing, while her family waited anxiously for answers. By Wednesday evening, an MRI revealed every parent’s worst fear — a large tumor had taken up space in her perfect little brain.
When Maislee learned there was something in her head that wasn’t supposed to be there, she matter-of-factly decided it was a rock. Not just any rock — a SPACE rock. About the size of a plum, this unwelcome visitor had to go. In the middle of fear, uncertainty, and countless unanswered questions, Tim and Rebecca put on brave faces and placed their trust in an incredible surgical team. It was time to officially serve Maislee’s space rock an eviction notice.
On Friday, May 8th, Maislee underwent a long and emotional surgery and came through it like an absolute rock star — officially space rock free. While her journey isn’t over yet, this was a huge victory. She is expected to remain in the hospital for about a week while she recovers and regains her strength. Pathology results are still pending, but right now her prognosis is the best her family could hope for. Doctors are optimistic that Maislee will make a full recovery and soon get back to doing all the things she loves most — playing, laughing, exploring, and simply being the bright, spirited little girl everyone knows and loves.
Anyone who knows Maislee knows she is full of personality, imagination, and light. Even in the middle of something so scary, she has continued to bring smiles to the people around her with her courage and her sweet “space rock” perspective. The love, prayers, positive thoughts, good vibes, and support already shown to Maislee and her family have meant more than words can express. During this difficult time, Tim and Rebecca are focusing all of their energy on helping their little girl heal.
If you would like to contribute to Maislee’s “Space Rock Fund,” any donations will help support:
• Medical expenses and hospital costs
• Time away from work for her parents
• Travel, meals, and day-to-day expenses during recovery
• Activities, comfort items, and ways to keep a brave and precocious 5-year-old entertained while she heals
Most importantly, your support helps remind this family they are not facing this alone.
Thank you for loving Maislee, cheering her on, and helping her continue shining bright — one space-rock-free day at a time.
