Maia is my soul dog—deeply intuitive, gentle, and incredibly bonded to me. She’s the kind of dog who always wants to be close, watching quietly, sensing everything, and offering comfort just by being near. As a puppy, Maia survived Neospora, a rare parasitic infection that affects the nervous system. She fought hard and recovered, but that early illness left her vulnerable. Recently, she’s been experiencing ongoing inflammatory flare-ups that are not resolving. She’s dealing with recurring fevers, significant gastrointestinal pain and disruption, shaking, and difficulty settling. Some days are slightly better, others are worse, but she hasn’t returned to her normal baseline and is clearly uncomfortable. For the last 15 days, I’ve watched her struggle daily, unable to find relief. My heart hurts watching her in pain, and I’m constantly balancing grief and hope—wondering what will happen if she doesn’t make it, but also trying to create space in my heart for a positive outcome. Maia can feel my energy, so I’m doing my best to stay strong for her, even when it’s hard. We’ve been working closely with emergency and primary veterinarians, but Maia now needs internal medicine specialists and advanced diagnostics to understand what’s driving these flares and how to prevent them from continuing. The costs of emergency visits, medications, testing, and upcoming specialty care have quickly added up. I started this fundraiser because Maia deserves answers, relief, and a chance at a stable, comfortable life. The funds will go directly toward specialist care, diagnostics, medications, and ongoing treatment so we can focus on healing instead of just managing crisis after crisis.

The reality is that Maia’s care has already involved multiple emergency visits, medications, testing, and ongoing monitoring—and the next step requires internal medicine specialists and advanced diagnostics that come with significant cost. I’m doing everything I can, but I can’t carry this alone.
