Help Mai Lee Recover
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Keng and I’m asking you for your help with my wife’s recovery from her lung transplant surgery which took place on July 1st, 2018.
The recovery process is a financially demanding process, especially being that I’ve been the only one working since 2014 and now taking Family Leave. We are required to find 3 star + clean lodging no further than 30 minutes away from UCSF for a minimum of six weeks after she is released from the hospital. We are looking at a target goal of $12,000 to help us complete her recovery here in San Francisco. We live in Fresno, California which is 3 hours away from San Francisco, so recovering at home is not an option.
Our previous YouCaring.com campaign had helped us raise $2,860 so far. This GoFundMe campaign is a continuation since YouCaring.com is no longer accepting donations.
Please help us any way you can. Every dollar counts and we are both grateful for your generosity. If you know Mai, you would know that she has always been a hard worker and helper even while her disease was consuming her. Despite everything she stayed very positive always leaving great impressions with anybody she meets. If you don’t know Mai I put all my bets you and her will become friends instantly when you meet her.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts! Please help pass this campaign to all your friends and family as well.

This is a brief story about my wife, Mai, and her battle against lupus. For over 6 years her lupus (SLE) had mounted an attack to all four lobes of her lung. In the Spring of 2017 she had less than 10% lung capacity and at her peak required a constant replacement of 70 oxygen tanks per week to get by. She could no longer take a single step without needing oxygen assistance; however, despite that she worked extremely hard to lose 60 pounds in order to qualify for a lung transplant, a requirement UCSF (University California San Francisco) hospital had set for her. Almost every Saturday and Sunday we would strap onto her scooter some oxygen tanks and walk 2 miles for about year before Mai finally got put on the waiting list. At the end of May 2018 she got really sick and spent the rest of her days in the hospital until July 1, 2018 when she finally underwent surgery for her new lungs. It was a successful operation and a joyous moment. Now comes the recovery and the urgent need for financial assistance.
