Hello, my name is Mahmoud Isaac. I am a first-generation university student at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University in Turkey. I was born and raised in Zalingei, Darfur (Sudan).
Since April 2023, Sudan has been torn apart by a devastating war between the army and the RSF (Rapid Support Forces). Millions of people have been displaced, and countless families — including my own — are trapped in dangerous conditions without access to aid. My parents and siblings remain in Zalingei, a city under RSF control, where shortages of food, medicine, and safety make life a daily struggle. They cannot leave or work, and I am the only one they rely on for survival.
To support myself and my family, I work tirelessly while studying full-time. Every weekday after classes, I teach English from 5 PM to 9 PM. On weekends, I teach non-stop from 9 AM to 7 PM. Everything I earn goes toward food, rent, and sending help to my family. Despite these long hours, I cannot save anything for this Erasmus program.
I have been accepted to the Erasmus exchange program at the University of Economics in Bratislava (Slovakia). This opportunity means I can take courses in Digitalization in Finance and E-commerce — areas that will give me the skills to become an entrepreneur and one day help rebuild Sudan after the war.
This exchange isn’t just about me. It is about being the first in my family to graduate from university, inspiring other young Sudanese to believe education is possible, and ensuring my family can survive while I study.
All donations will go directly toward covering my essential expenses as a student on Erasmus in Slovakia, while also helping my family back home in Sudan.
How the funds will be used
• Housing/Dorm fees – To make sure I can stay in student accommodation and avoid eviction.
• Travel costs – Transportation to Slovakia
• Living expenses – Food, local transport, and daily essentials while I study.
• Study-related costs – Books, materials, and university-related fees.
• Family support – A portion will help my family in Darfur, who are facing hardship due to the ongoing war.
My Dream and Gratitude
Since I was young, I’ve always tried to build and give back. I founded Milha, an education platform to help Sudanese students win scholarships, and joined the Orange Corner incubation program for young entrepreneurs. This Erasmus program is the next step in my journey to learn, grow, and one day create opportunities for others in Sudan.
Your support will not only help me study abroad — it will also keep my family safe in Zalingei during the war and allow me to return stronger, as the first in my family to graduate, with the skills to rebuild Sudan.
Thank you so much for reading, for donating, or even just for sharing my campaign. Every bit of support brings me closer to this dream and gives hope to my family and my country.
