Help Magnus's Cancer Treatment

Three weeks ago we noticed Magnus was limping and thought nothing of it. He sometimes does when his nails get to long and I knew it had been a while since they had been cut. I was home that week as I had Covid, so the next day, as he was still limping, I noticed his back leg was a little swollen. It didn't seem like he was in pain so after talking to the vet we alternated ice and heat and gave him dog ibuprofen. He seems better for a while, was like back to normal. Then he started limping again and I noticed the leg was even more swollen than before. I made an appointment with the vet, thinking he might have broken something. As the doctor comes back from the X-ray with a dreaded look on her face she tells me Magnus has cancer.

Magnus is only 17 month old Golden retriever and he is being diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in his back leg. The X-ray they took that same day of his chest and lungs showed no signs that the cancer had spread, which is as the first good news we had heard!! Osteosarcoma cancer in dogs is a very aggressive form of cancer and if not caught early can be fatal. I already feel extremely guilty that I let three weeks pass without going to the vet but at least we know now. Tomorrow (11/29/22) we take him to the surgical consultation appointment at Ocean State Vet discussing what our next steps are. According to our vet, amputation and chemo are likely our best options, as long as it hasn't spread.

Treatment for cancer is very expensive. We did not have health insurance for Magnus and even so, it wouldn't have covered it fully. We are therefore asking our friends and family, and strangers among us to help save our sweet sweet Magnus. I know it's the worst time of year, right before the holidays but anything will help. All I want is to keep my baby boy with us. We appreciate anything you can spare, even if it's only sharing this fundraiser with your friends and family.
