As many of you may know, our beautiful, strong daughter Magnolia was diagnosed with two congenital heart defects at birth, Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) and Atrial Septal Defect (ASD). Over time her VSD has closed on its own, but her ASD has only gotten larger. An Atrial Septal Defect is a hole in the wall between the heart's upper chambers. In turn extra blood flows to the lungs and causes the right side of the heart to work too hard, which causes it to become weak. We have been patiently waiting for Magnolia to grow strong enough to undergo a heart procedure at MUSC in Charleston.

On June 23, 2025, Magnolia will be admitted to MUSC to have a cardiac catheterization done to hopefully fix her ASD. We pray that this method fixes her heart so that she will not need a more invasive procedure. During this uncertain time, we kindly ask for any support the community may be willing to offer and to raise awareness of congenital heart defects. We want to give her the longest and healthiest life she can live.

Magnolia is a brave, bright, and happy child that will be 6 & a half when she undergoes this procedure. She will be entering the 1st grade in the fall and looks forward to healing her heart so that she can participate in sports/activities that her ASD has not allowed her to. Magnolia is the middle child of three sisters, and she is truly a light in all of our lives. We cannot wait to see her reach her fullest potential!
