Magic is a 15-year-old diabetic cat who boarded with Cat Utopia from August to January. During that time, his owners made the brave and difficult decision to surrender him after realizing they could no longer financially or logistically manage his care.

Since taking responsibility for him, we have reached out to nine rescues in hopes of finding support. We have either been declined or received no response. The reality is that many rescues do not have the funds to take on a senior cat with an expensive medical condition.

Magic does not require insulin. His diabetes is managed with a daily medication (Senvelgo), prescription food, and regular veterinary monitoring. Based on his current care plan, Magic is expected to have two really solid years where he can live comfortably, happily, and with good quality of life.

Magic now lives with me, the owner of Cat Utopia. He has settled into home life quickly — sleeping comfortably, maintaining a stable routine, and taking his medication without issue. He is calm, affectionate, and enjoying the consistency of having a permanent home.

This is not an emergency placement or a temporary situation. Magic is safe, stable, and loved. This fundraiser exists solely to ensure his medical care remains sustainable so he can enjoy the good years he still has ahead of him.

Without financial support for his medication, food, and vet care, Magic’s alternative would be euthanasia due to cost alone — despite him still having good years ahead of him. That is not an outcome we are willing to accept.

Our goal is simple and specific:

100 people donating $4 per month for 12 months ($48 / year)

This will cover Magic’s medical needs for the next year and allow him to continue living the life he deserves.

Any funds raised beyond Magic’s monthly needs will be set aside for emergency medical care during his lifetime. When Magic eventually passes, any remaining funds will be donated to CARES, our local cat sanctuary.
