Help Maggie fight cancer again!

Maggie Gill is a beloved preschool music teacher, church musician, and opera singer. On June 2, she was diagnosed with a return of Primary Mediastinal Large B-Cell Lymphoma. Due to the speed of her evolving symptoms, she was admitted to the hospital on June 9, and has just returned home after a successful, and rigorous round of chemotherapies.

Treatment for her specific diagnosis includes being admitted to the hospital for several days of chemotherapy, for multiple rounds. In between hospital stays, there are also multiple tests per week and additional doctor visits. Her treatment plan is currently evolving due to the aggressive nature of her cancer, but the UAB cancer team is incredible, and is doing a fabulous job with the unfolding journey.

Even with good health insurance, the costs for this are going to be high. These funds will cover the insurance deductible, co-pays, gas, hospital parking, and meals for Maggie and her wife Christin who is taking care of her.

We have $4,000 in medical bills due now for Maggie's treatment.

Because of when Maggie was diagnosed, we expect expenses like those above - $4,000 in insurance deductibles/co-pays - will be reached and need to be covered both in 2023 and in 2024.

The amount we are requesting will also cover hospital parking, non-covered prescriptions, etc.. This will also help cover a bit of lost pay when Christin has to be with her during medical procedures that overlap with her free-lance work.

Our wonderful church has organized a Care Team to help us with with trips to the doctor, a meal train, and other practical needs. Let us know if you would like to help in those ways as well!
