Help Maggie Fight Brain Cancer
Donation protected
After months of struggling with debilitating migraines, on January 2nd, my sister Maggie went to have an MRI. The results showed a 6.5 centimeter long tumor on the area of her brain that controls higher functioning, decision making, and language processing. On January 15th, four days before her 24th birthday, she underwent a 6 hour surgery at Mayo Clinic of Rochester to remove the tumor. The surgery successfully removed 95% of the tumor with minimal effects on her speech. However, treatment is far from over.
Maggie is now gearing up for the fight of her life as the pathology results show it is Grade 4 astrocytoma with an IDH mutation and a homozygous loss of CDKN2A. She will soon be undergoing 6 weeks of intensive radiation which will be supplemented with pill form chemotherapy. Maggie's support team will be at her side taking care of her and driving her over two hours round trip every day to Rochester for her radiation appointments. Next, after radiation and chemo, she will hopefully be chosen to undergo experimental clinical trials that target cancers with an IDH mutation.
At this time, I am asking on Maggie's behalf for donations, shares, prayers, and good vibes. Your donations will help Maggie cover her $6,000 insurance deductible, assist with monthly living expenses, and cover transportation to and from her treatments. The side effects of treatment will put her out of work for an extended period of time.
Please give in whatever capacity you are able; no donation is too small, because collectively, you all can make a big difference.
If you would like to donate directly, you may Venmo Maggie at @Maggie-Servent. The last 4 digits of her phone number are 6316.
Thank you for your support and help!
