Hi everyone – on December 4, 2021, my sister Faith tried to check the puppy camera on her phone to find that the apartment she shared with her friend, Maggie, was filled with smoke. Maggie and Faith were luckily both out of the house, but they rushed home to find the entire apartment in flames. Tragically, Faith's cat of 10 years, Cassie, and their new dog, Georgia, were both caught in the blaze and didn't make it out. Their pets were deeply loved parts of their family, and the loss is tremendous.
While losing their companions was by far the most devastating outcome of this tragedy, Maggie and Faith are also recent college graduates (graduating in 2020 at the height of the pandemic), who had just moved into their first apartment. Their home and all of their belongings were completely destroyed by the fire, so the material loss is also immense. We're fundraising to try to get them back on their feet as quickly as possible, and to offset some of the emotional burden of building their lives back up.
The cause of the fire is still unknown. Faith and Maggie have been met with so much support from their communities, and are fortunate to be able to stay with their families while recovering from this event. The proceeds of this fundraiser will be split between Faith and Maggie. We're so grateful and appreciative of all the help we can get and thank you in advance for listening to their story.
