Help Maggie and Her Sons Rebuild After Tragedy

Hello. This is a fundraiser for my best friend, Maggie Gravitt. We are trying to raise funds to help Maggie and her two kids over the next few months after the loss of the kids' father, Ken Gravitt.

Maggie is my best friend of over 30 years. Very sadly on August 7th, her family suffered an unimaginable tragedy and loss. Her ex-husband, Ken, was found deceased outside near their house. Cameron, their oldest son, was very unfortunately the one who found him. This has hit them very hard, especially Cameron.

Maggie & Ken had been living together for over a year. Choosing to put their differences aside and co-parenting for the sake of their children. Money was a factor in this decision, being extremely tight for them as it is for everyone nowadays, but they made it work. They made it work so they could take better care of their kids.

Ken and Maggie were already living paycheck to paycheck. The sudden loss of one paycheck is going to have disastrous effects on their daily lives, as I'm sure many people are all too familiar with and/or can imagine. To put it bluntly, they need help. Financial help. Any help they can get to make it through the next few months.

Since the death was unattended, an autopsy will need to be performed. Because of that, the coroner has advised Maggie that it will likely be at least 90 days before she can get a final death certificate, which she will need to file for social security benefits on the boys' behalf. Which will be much needed and appreciated income.

Maggie will also need to get through the next few weeks of helping her boys adjust and learn to live in this new life. Bills of course still need to be paid. The funeral has to be arranged and attended to. She has already missed work. We are not sure if she qualifies for any paid time off for the funeral because her and Ken were not married at the time of his passing. Unfortunately, there may be many benefits she does not qualify for because they were no longer married.

Maggie is not asking for anything on her behalf. She only wants to take care of her sons. That is one thing she and Ken agreed on wholeheartedly. They both loved their sons fiercely. Anyone that knew Ken knows for an absolute fact he would want his sons taken care of and provided for in this world.

We are asking please help us to do that. We just want to give Maggie a few weeks of breathing room to get her and her children back on her feet and living in this new world.
