También recibimos donaciones privadas/directas (fuera del sitio de GoFund me) de una amiga y también de una familia muy querida, también hemos agregado el pago de la vacaciones laborales, más algunos extras para hacer posible la cirugía, o para por lo menos acercarnos un poco más a la meta, teniendo un total ahorrado de 5410€ , esto significa que solo nos faltan 2.090€ para hacer posible la cirugía.

Late update: Thanks to the help of all of you who shared this campaign/post, made donations through the app and also privately, and a bank loan, we managed to collect the money to do the much needed surgery on one of my mom’s knees in July of last year. 

 Even though both of her knees were in a terrible state, considering the high costs, we decided to intervene with the one that was causing her the most pain first. The surgery was successful! What a relief! 

Afterwards, my mom followed her therapy to recover the mobility, and today 9 months later, she can move that knee with the prosthesis without problems.

Unfortunately, the other knee sabotages the “good health” of the new one, and causes her a lot of pain. Even though she does her best to not take too many pain killers, sometimes this is the only way to manage the pain and get through the day. 

 So, we would like to get the second surgery done this year. Actually, it needs to be done as soon as possible also by recommendation of her doctor. We will need for that 7.500$ (The already 1.300€ donated were used for the first surgery). However, we are still paying the bank loan, which makes it more difficult for us to collect or save money for the needed surgery. 

For this reason we would like to ask you once again for your help to make this surgery happen!

Actualización tardía: Gracias a la ayuda de todos los que compartieron esta campaña/post, donaron a través de la app y también de forma privada, y un préstamo bancario, en julio del año pasado logramos juntar el dinero para hacer la cirugía que tanto necesitaba mi mamá en una de las rodillas. 

 A pesar de que sus dos rodillas estaban en pésimo estado, considerando los altos costos, decidimos intervenir primero la que le estaba causando más dolor. 

 ¡La cirugía fue un éxito! ¡Qué alivio! Después mi mamá siguió su terapia para recuperar la movilidad, y hoy 9 meses después ya puede caminar y mover esa rodilla con la prótesis sin problemas. 

 Desafortunadamente, la otra rodilla sabotea la “buena salud” de la nueva y le causa mucho dolor. Aunque hace todo lo posible por no tomar demasiados analgésicos, a veces esta es la única forma de controlar el dolor y pasar el día. 

Por lo tanto, nos gustaría realizar la segunda cirugía este año. En realidad, debe hacerse lo antes posible también por recomendación de su médico. Para eso necesitaremos 7.500$ (Los ya 1.300€ donados se usaron para la primera cirugía). Sin embargo, todavía estamos pagando el préstamo bancario, lo que hace que sea más difícil para nosotros recolectar o ahorrar dinero para la cirugía necesaria. 

 Por esta razón, nos gustaría pedirle una vez más su ayuda para que esta cirugía se lleve a cabo.

My brother Freddy and I decided to start this campaign in the name of our mother Madzudayra, or Madzu as many people know her.

For those who know her, they know that our mom is a happy, energetic woman, always positive and with a great attitude, even in the most difficult circumstances.

She is a very strong woman, and she never complains, but my brother and I know that our mom lives with severe pain every day of her life due to a condition called osteoarthritis. She has suffered from this condition for many years, and it has affected her knees significantly as her quality of life.

Osteoarthritis has caused that the bones of her knees collide with each other, since they do not have any lamina covering them, and her meniscus are also destroyed as a result of this. Sometimes her knees get so inflamed that she cannot even bend her leg.

This is why she is in dire need of a complete knee replacement surgery for several years... Unfortunately, this surgery has been postponed for years due to lack of money, while the pain got unbearable for her, to the point of not being able to sleep at night. The thought of her suffering so much each day and night, breaks our hearts.

Our mom loves to play and take care of her grandchildren, which she does even on the days when she has this atrocious pain. She is a woman always ready to help others, she has given love, happiness and smiles all her life to those around her.

That is why we resort to this way, by creating this fund, so that maybe you also can help our mother to regain her quality of life, to be able to enjoy her grandchildren without this meaning spending days in bed because of pain afterwards.

Each prosthesis costs around $ 3,000 and clinical costs $ 4,150. Our mom needs to go through this procedure twice, as both knees cannot be done in one operation.

A minimum of $ 14,300 is needed just to cover clinical expenses, this without counting medicines, and extra care, like physiotherapy, that our mom may need. For this reason, we hope to raise at least $16,000.

The surgery will be done in Ecuador where our mom lives with my brother, and the surgery will be in hands of Doctor Eduardo Montanero.

Mi hermano Freddy y yo decidimos iniciar esta campaña en nombre de nuestra mamá Madzudayra, o Madzu como mucha gente la conoce.

Quienes la conocen saben que nuestra mamá es una mujer alegre, enérgica, siempre positiva y con una gran actitud, incluso en las circunstancias más difíciles.

Ella es una mujer muy fuerte y nunca se queja, pero mi hermano y yo sabemos que nuestra mamá vive con un dolor severo todos los días de su vida debido a una condición llamada artrosis. Ha padecido esta afección durante muchos años y le ha afectado significativamente las rodillas.

La artrosis ha provocado que los huesos de sus rodillas colisionen entre sí, ya que no tienen ninguna lámina que las cubra, y su menisco también está destruido como consecuencia de esto. A veces, sus rodillas se inflaman tanto que ni siquiera puede doblar la pierna.

Es por eso que necesita urgentemente una cirugía de reemplazo completo de rodilla desde hace varios años ... Desafortunadamente, esta cirugía se ha pospuesto durante años debido a la falta de dinero, mientras que el dolor se ha vuelto insoportable para ella, hasta el punto de a veces no poder dormir. La idea de que ella sufra tanto nos rompe el corazón.

A nuestra mamá le encanta jugar y cuidar a sus nietos, lo que hace incluso en los días en que tiene el dolor más fuerte. Es una mujer siempre dispuesta a ayudar a los demás, ha dado amor, felicidad y sonrisas toda su vida a quienes la rodean.

Por eso recurrimos a esta vía, creando este fondo, para que quizás tú también puedas ayudar a nuestra madre a recuperar su calidad de vida, a poder disfrutar de sus nietos sin que esto signifique pasar después días en la cama por el dolor.

Cada prótesis cuesta alrededor de $ 3,000 y la clínica cuesta $ 4,150. Nuestra madre debe someterse a este procedimiento dos veces, ya que no se pueden realizar ambas rodillas en una sola operación.

Se necesita un mínimo de $ 14.300 solo para cubrir los gastos clínicos, esto sin contar los medicamentos, y los cuidados extra, como fisioterapia, que nuestra mamá pueda necesitar. Por esta razón, esperamos recaudar al menos $ 16,000.

La cirugía se hará en Ecuador donde vive nuestra mamá con mi hermano, y estará en manos del Doctor Eduardo Montanero.
