Help Mady beat cancer!

Hey friends and family,

As some of you may know, Chris and Kristy's daughter, Madyson, was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia early Monday morning. This is incredibly rare and typically not diagnosed in children. 

Mady started running a fever Saturday and by Sunday afternoon, her fever had spiked to 104.5. Obviously concerned by this, Kristy took her to Banner Ironwood where she tested positive for influenza B. Thankfully, their nurse was very attentive and concerned and encouraged further testing. A chest x-ray was done and labs, including a CBC, were run. That is when her white blood cell count was found to be extremely high, so high they thought it was likely a lab error. Unfortunately, second testing was done confirming a greater issue than the flu. Mady was then transferred to Phoenix Children's where she was placed in ICU due to her labs and high temperature. Around 4 am, Kristy was told it was leukemia and Mady would have to have a bone marrow aspiration that day to determine which form of leukemia it was, and how to proceed with treatment. 24 grueling hours later they confirmed the CML diagnosis.

Mady will be inpatient for the next week while she heals from the flu and then she will be sent home to continue her fight. She started her first dose of chemotherapy, which is in pill form, last night. She will have many outpatient appointments where she will be monitored very closely but Mady is so strong, we know she will beat this! 

Kristy and Chris are surrounded by an army of people and we want to support them in any way possible. We have set up this GoFundMe so they can focus on Mady and not worry about the financial stress treatment will bring. All funds will go directly to the Martinez family.
