MADISYN TAYLOR
This is our daughter Madisyn Taylor. She is 21 yrs old and as I would say my ray of Sunshine. Madisyn lives at home with us and her younger brother due to her disabilities, we will always be her legal guardians.
She currently attends a Christian based day program four days a week and has assistance with some job training. One of her favorite places to work at is a local church, the staff is very friendly and helpful. The day program assists Madisyn in any areas that she needs help for daily living skills. Also the staff members are very caring and are considered family.
Since birth Madisyn has many complex medical conditions that have baffled even the smartest doctors. Her genetics DNA have been sent to many labs with the same results = inconclusive. The doctors actually have a "non medical" condition = "Madisyn Syndrome" for her. One might ask, Why would a parent want something wrong with their child?!? Of course not!!! However..... that nasty word....INSURANCE = Nothing is Covered = Sorry! And the Costs just keep rising, Because a parent Will do anything for their child to find an answer to stop the pain and start the healing!
Autism, Primary Immunodeficiency (CVID), Chronic Immune Ulcerative Colitis, Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EOE) and Stage 3b Renal Failure is just the first part of her ABC soup recipe.
The therapies, lab draws, doctor appointments and hospital stays are never ending. Days of joints swelling, edema, adominal bloating and pain, fatigue, headaches, and stomach cramps, It can be a rollercoaster of ups and downs - good days and bad days.
Many medical staff have suggested a service dog for Madisyn. Depression started setting in when the renal failure started taking over her body. The underlying disorder is C3 Glomerulopathy. This is such a rare kidney disease it affects only two out of every one million! Since this is such a rare disease the prognosis is poor. Mayo Clinic has only seen a max of 10years till the disease takes over the body. There are a lot of unknown with C3 and Madisyn has wonderful doctors taking care of her. There of course are good days and bad days, however each of those days we are blessed by the Lord with our beautiful daughter. With her disabilities I am not fully aware of what she understands of her illness, however Madisyn understands that God has her hand of this Journey and will always be guiding her wherever that may lead.
I have searched several programs that would help provide funding for service dogs, but the need is great. After more than a couple of years of searching, being told waitlists are full, grants are on hold due to COVID or no new applications being taken- I knew that I needed to do something! Madisyn needs support and unfortunately time is working against us. A service dog can help her live a fulfilling life.
Madisyn was fortunate enough to be accepted for a service dog to be trained for her needs by Dog Trainer US. here in AZ. A deposit was made for a match to be made from a Doodle Breeder that has a long history of breeding dogs for service dogs for autism children. The Process is starting to move foward!
A service dog for Madisyn would meet her specific requirements as her disease progresses. Some things are walking and balance problems, wheelchair side walk, carry items/fetch/open doors if needed. Emotional support, anxiety, any mental health concerns - there will be dialysis, lab draws, kidney biopsies, doctor appointments, hospital stays, transplants, etc. Providing stability when confused, Giving a peace of mind, aid in sleeping, Increase motivation, Decrease in " depression bouts", increase in social interactions - to help "break the ice".
We have been hesitant to ask for support with fundraising to make this dream a reality for Madisyn. However an intense training program can cost up to $25,000 for a dog Plus the purchase of the puppy. Already with the multiple health problems and this rare progressing condition - C3 now is the time and need for a service dog. A service dog so that our daughter can live a less complicated life, keep her spirits up and have a best friend.
Thank You so much for any donations towards our dream. We will be posting pictures of the training process and the bonding process. Madisyn was matched with a Berne Doodle for her needs. (Bernese Mountain Dog and Poodle). This Sweetheart after great thought has a name of........ Daisy Doodle .................Maddy thought of herself.
