Hi, my name is Lourdes Otero and I live in Florida with my son and his family of six.  His wife, Erika, and four children are the pleasures of my life.  Madison Salgado, one of my beautiful, 14 1/2-year-old grand-daughters, was recently (2 months) diagnosed with the progressive stage of Lyme Disease and because of this, her world has gotten smaller.  She has been misdiagnosed for the last two years after countless visits to physicians, specialists, and therapists.  After two years, we have finally determined the cause but because it took so long to get proper diagnose, she now suffers from severe neurological complications.  Her daily discomforts and challenges consist of ongoing frequent dizziness, severe headaches, light sensitivity, chronic nausea, muscle mass loss, and weakness.  She is no longer able to walk by herself and always requires assistance. Because of the aggressive drug therapies and their horrible side effects, my family has chosen to use complementary and alternative medicine to help cure Madison.  There are four well-known health centers, located in Arizona, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennesse, and Virginia, that could treat Madison but financially they cost roughly $20,000-$60,000 which is financially impossible and our limited health insurance will not provide coverage.  Our goal is to get Madison to a health center in North Carolina https://havenmedicalnc.com or Tennessee https://sanctuaryfunctionalmedicine.com who has quoted us approximately $20,000 for treatment ($9000 every 6 months for the next 18 months not including laboratory and supplement costs).  We are in dire need of urgent help because every day that Madison goes untreated, Lyme Disease becomes more and more neurologically debilitating. Madison, my lovely granddaughter, is full of life and have so many dreams to accomplish.  She loves caring for and riding horses.  She also loves playing the piano, bike riding, and sewing.  All of these activities she can no longer enjoy because of this horrific disease.   If you cannot give monetarily, please keep her in your thought and prayers.
