Last Saturday, a devastating fire in Fort Greene destroyed my dear friend Madi’s apartment, leaving her without a home and taking all her cherished belongings with it. She thankfully was not home during the tragedy, but she is now starting from nothing, without clothing, furniture, daily essentials, or a stable place to land.

We are coming together to support her during this incredibly difficult time and help her begin the long process of rebuilding her life. Donations of any amount will go directly toward immediate needs such as temporary housing or apt leads (we all know the NYC rental market is crazy) clothing, food, and replacing basic necessities. If you’re unable to donate financially, support in the form of furniture, household items, or helpful resources, including legal or advocacy guidance as she navigates next steps would mean just as much.

On top of this heartbreaking loss, her beloved cat Max is currently missing and was potentially last seen in the surrounding Fort Greene area after the fire.
