Hello everyone! I’m Kate Weidinger, Madison Stringer’s aunt. I want to start by saying a HUGE thank you for all of the thoughts and prayers we have already received for Madi. I’m setting up a GoFundMe site for Madi and her family to help relieve some of the financial burdens that the insurance does not cover. They have a high deductible insurance plan, and this diagnosis is very unexpected and costly. Donations will help cover time off work taken for appointments, gas to get to and from appointments, and childcare for the family’s other two children.
Madi is 14 years young and was just recently diagnosed with cancer. The surgery to biopsy and remove the tumor resulted in the diagnosis of Spindle Cell Sarcoma - Phyllodes Tumor. This type of cancer is rare and very aggressive, especially at her age (she is probably the youngest person ever to be diagnosed with this type of cancer). This is just the beginning of a long journey for Madi and all of her family. Despite being so young, Madi has been so brave, accepting, inspiring, and positive thus far. She is a true role model for all of those around her. Madi’s sense of humor and laughter can light up an entire room. She has always been so welcoming and personable with everybody she meets.
This August, Madi is entering the 10th grade. Not that any time is the “right” time for a cancer diagnosis, but during her teenage years, when she is supposed to be carefree, having fun, and experiencing new things, she is fighting to have a “normal” life.
Madi is an amazing daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend. She loves music, especially heavy metal. She looks forward to traveling to Disney next year with her chorus group. Her mother wrote, “Her love for music has filled our house with beautiful noise. She would sing herself to sleep in her crib before she could even talk. Now the sound of viola, guitar, ukulele, keyboard, and her beautiful voice continue to fill our home.”
As her Aunt, I can honestly say that Madi has the biggest heart of any person I have ever encountered. Her love for her family, friends, and pets radiates when you are around her.
I can’t understand why something so bad has happened to such a sweet and loving young girl, but what we are focusing on is staying strong for Madi and being there for her through this long, scary journey.
If you aren’t in the financial situation to be able to donate, we ask that you pray and continue to pray for Madi. The power of prayer is strong. We are still assessing the family’s needs as they proceed with treatment. The family may have future needs such as assistance with meals, yard work, and transportation. So please reach out to me if you might be available to assist with future needs.
I will be posting updates throughout her entire process. We appreciate your support and prayers!
