Hello, this is my grandmother Madeline Villegas. She is 87 years old and is in the process of recovering from one of the worst years of her life. She was having multiple falls this year (with bone fractures), and we came to find out that she had severe cervical stenosis that was slowly paralyzing her. She was in and out of the hospitals for months and was told that her quadriplegia was going to be permanent and that her lungs would eventually shut down. Despite this news, my grandmother fought and chose to get surgery to prevent her lungs from stopping. This surgery was not intended to improve her quadriplegia. However, despite all odds and 100 days of rehab, miraculously, she is walking again and feeding herself! She’s by no means 100%, and she has a lot more rehab to go, but now there is hope. The doctor even told her that there is an osteoporosis medication she can start to help strengthen her bones because she has osteoporosis. However, in order to start this medication, she needs to get her teeth fixed because the medication can cause necrosis of the jaw. She does not have dental insurance. We had her teeth checked, and it turns out that she needs a root canal with a crown and some cavities filled. Unfortunately, we cannot afford this, and if she doesn’t get her dental work done, her osteoporosis medication is not possible. My grandma is an amazing person and never asks for anything, but right now she’s asking if anyone has the kindness in their heart to help her; she would greatly appreciate it. This woman is a miracle. God bless.
p.s. We know times are tough right now for everyone and any amount would be appreciated.
