Help My Sister and I Escape an Unstable Home & Get Legal Support

Hi, my name is Madeline Betz, and I’m reaching out on behalf of myself and my sister Caitlin as we navigate an incredibly painful and overwhelming situation. We are currently trying to move out of an unstable, emotionally and physically harmful environment. Our home has not been a place of safety for a long time, and we are doing everything we can to protect ourselves and start a new chapter.

This situation isn’t new. We’ve experienced ongoing mistreatment for years—but now that it has escalated into a legal matter, we urgently need to take action to protect ourselves and our future.

Recently, our parents filed a Protection From Abuse (PFA) order against us—even though we are the ones who have endured the abuse. In response, my sister and I filed a counter PFA, and we’ve been granted a hearing. While we are relieved to have the opportunity to share our side of the story, the legal process has been emotionally and financially draining.

We urgently need help covering:

Moving expenses so we can get to a safe and stable living situation

Legal fees to ensure we have proper representation

Basic necessities during this transitional period

This is heartbreaking to share publicly, but we’re doing so in the hope that we can get the support we need to move forward safely and with dignity.
