Our sweet Madison has been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. The diagnosis was sudden and came just a month before Maddy’s third birthday. To complicate matters, we’ve learned that Maddy also has an atrial septal defect and an enlarged ventricle. The entire family is heartbroken, and Maddy’s parents, Amanda and Scott, are still coming to terms with all that Maddy is facing.

This past weekend, Maddy began chemotherapy. Despite having to endure endless pokes and prods, both for chemo and other procedures, Maddy remains her spunky, silly self.

Many people have reached out asking how they can help. The reality is that Maddy has a long road to recovery. She will need regular chemo treatments for the next two to three years, as well as surgeries to address her heart. Cancer is costly, not just because of uncovered medical expenses but also because of lost income while caring for Maddy. With that in mind, Maddy’s aunts and uncles are starting this campaign to alleviate some of the financial burden that accompanies a cancer diagnosis.
