Help Maddy Cope and Continue College

Hi everyone, my name is Bellamy and I’m sharing this on behalf of one of my closest friends, Madison-Paige (Maddy) Smith. I’ve had the blessing of knowing Maddy since 6th grade and for almost 10 years now Maddy has been loyal, kind, supportive, caring, ambitious, funny, and one of the best people I’ve ever met. About a week ago her family suffered the unimaginable tragedy of losing her mom, Debbie, to her battle with addiction and homelessness. Prior to this, Maddy’s family was already reeling from the loss of her grandma, grandpa, and family dog right before she started college. For the past couple months, Maddy had been struggling with being granted financial aid from the University of Washington, where she’s currently majoring in biology, as she’s taking this quarter off to cope with the loss. The pediatric field, which she plans to pursue, would be very lucky to have her, as her mom liked to brag. Unfortunately, due to her mom’s situation, no money was left for Maddy to help continue her studies. Maddy is already suffering PTSD from the trauma she has endured, including being homeless with her mom growing up, and has been in trauma therapy for 2 years. Money anyone could set aside for either funeral expenses or to help Maddy further her education would be greatly appreciated, as would prayers and good thoughts.
