Natalie :
"In 2019 I assessed a dog that was abandoned at a boarding kennel. But that loveable jerk really knew how to work his Rottweiler charm, and soon he suckered his way into my home. And while it's true that his mischievous nature doesn't make him the easiest dog to live with, he does provide me and the internet with constant entertainment with his antics. In truth, I was not ready for another dog, but the decision wasn't really mine, he picked me.
And now look at him. He walks down the street looking for people to stop and pet him. He's even gotten motorists to pull over. He's a dream to train and we were looking forward to starting his career in dog sports after the pandemic.
During a routine vet exam, I pointed out a lump on his lip. My vet biopsied it and it came back positive for cancer. Thanks to the very talented staff at the Toronto Veterinary Emergency Hospital his prognosis is excellent. He's had the mass removed and he's currently receiving chemotherapy.
I've taken out huge loans to save Maddox. These don't even cover the extra costs of special food for when he's not eating, over-the-counter medications, and sanitation supplies while he's in treatment. At 6 years old Maddox can pull through this. He's got an internal strength and a love for life that will help pull him through. But we cannot do this without help. There will be more large bills after this. And in the event that we can raise more than enough to cover the bills, anything extra will be donated to another dog battling cancer."
