Meet Maddox! A happy lively active 2 yr old boy up until 4 weeks ago when his parents Christina and David had a parent’s nightmare come true. When they went into wake Maddox up he was breathing and had his eyes open but wasn’t responding or moving. They immediately rushed him to hospital only to find out he had suffered a paediatric stroke. Maddox is currently in Manchester St Mary’s children’s hospital and is doing incredibly well with his rehab. Fortunately the recovery success rate of children under 5 is very positive. However that success depends on him accessing specialised physio that he needs for the next 6 months -2 yrs depending on how quickly his brain repairs itself.
Maddox is ready to come home now as part of his recovery is brain rest (sleep or quite time) after his physio, as you can imagine this is difficult to get on a busy hospital ward. This means he will do much better being at home in his own bed and because they can all be together as a family again with his baby brother Hendrix. The problem is if Maddox comes home the NHS funding outside the hospital will only provide basic community physio but he needs specialist paediatric stroke physio which will cost around £100 per session and he may need this physio a few times a week for at least 6 months to possibly 2 yrs in order for him to make sure he reaches his maximum potential.
Please donate as little or as much as you can so Christina and David can bring Maddox home but still get the specialist physio he needs!
Thanks in advance xxx
