Help Maddie recover from Cyclone Jasper

Hi, my name is Avelyn and I am fundraising for my little sister, Madeleine - a mum of 4 and first home owner - who lost her house in the suburb of Caravonica due to the floods following Cyclone Jasper in Cairns, QLD.

Maddie and her kids woke to an immediate evacuation message via txt on the morning of Dec 17th and within minutes found a river of water rushing down the street and into her yard as they were preparing to leave. As you can imagine it was a very panicky, confusing situation for them as they gathered a few emergency belongings and all piled into the car to hunt for higher ground. Within hours her entire house had water rushing through it, destroying the property inside and out as you will see in the photos.

Since then they have worked tirelessly to try and salvage anything they can, cleaning out gallons of water, mud, debris and dead fish without power for days and the only assistance being from a local group of volunteers who are overwhelmed by the sheer devastation of the entire area being destructed.

I think the pics speak for themselves, there is a whole community of people alongside Maddie that have been displaced from their homes, lost most if not all their possessions and are desperately using resources and filling up all available accommodation in the surrounding areas, which leads us to her immediate predicament and where you can help....

The assessors have informed Madeleine the work needed to replace her home will take a minimum of 6 months, leaving her and her 4 kids needing to find suitable accommodation for that period.

Unfortunately her insurance is only able to cover approx 2 months of those costs and as we know the world doesn't stop for natural disasters so school, work and responsibilities need to go on - with no family or other support close by her options are limited to the few VERY pricey accommodation available.

Please help with a donation, however big or small so we can ease some of her stress and secure accommodation for her and her kids as they settle into 2024, every dollar helps.
