Help Maddie Fight Chronic Lyme Disease

We are the Morgan family. Matt & Tricia, with our five incredible kids, Hope, Maddie, Ami, Shepherd, & Levi. We have been living and serving in ministry in Northern, VA, for the last 17 years. We call Reston, VA, our home and have loved raising our kids here and giving our lives to this place.

Over the past several years, our 16-year-old daughter, Maddie, has been wrestling with a myriad of symptoms that we have struggled to identify the root cause of. Some of her symptoms have presented as:

Finally, this year, after six years of symptoms, we were able to see a doctor who gave us some clarity with a diagnosis of Chronic Lyme Disease with several co-infections. While the diagnosis was a relief in knowing what we are facing, it has begun what looks to be a long journey toward feeling healthy and pain-free again.

Much of the treatment and medications that Maddie is receiving are not covered by insurance, and what we have heard from other Lyme patients, has proved true for us. This is a difficult and expensive diagnosis. This year we have completely depleted our health care savings and have incurred substantial new medical debt in seeking to identify Maddie's illness and get her the help she needs.

This is a journey that we can’t walk alone, and we want to invite you to partner with us in prayer and, if you are able, to give financially to help cover the costs of her treatment and recovery. We are praying that Maddie is completely and miraculously healed, but as we wait for that day, we are grateful for the common grace of experienced and trusted doctors who can help Maddie move toward greater health and wholeness in her body.

Maddie is an incredible human being. If you know her, you already know that. She is entering her senior year of high school and beginning to look forward to all that is before her as she prepares for life as an adult. In the midst of this exciting season of life, though she sometimes tells us that it's hard for her to remember what it feels like to feel "well." She has been a fierce fighter through this diagnosis. In the midst of dealing with chronic pain, exhaustion and a nearly constant feeling of sickness, she has served as a worship leader in our local church, she is launching a new business, and is constantly serving her siblings, friends and neighbors with love and great sacrifice. She has a bright future ahead of her, and we long for her to run into that future with greater wholeness and health in her body.

The goal of this fund is to help our family cover the medical debt we have incurred this year, but additionally to come around Maddie and help her fight this Chronic disease in the months and years ahead without added stress from a financial burden.
