We are reaching out to everyone in Maddie and Cam’s Community to offer our support to them at this pivotal time. The purpose of this fundraiser is to help remove some of the financial strain on them as well as ensure they are fed, housed and supported as best as they can be during what has been an emotional rollercoaster of a pregnancy.

We all usually imagine that pregnancy and birth are going to be a perfect, beautiful and magical experience. While Maddie and Cam are elated that they are gifted with twin girls, they have experienced trials and challenges ever since the 20 week scan, when Maddie was identified as a High risk pregnancy. Since then, Maddie has been travelling to the Gold Coast weekly to have scans and ensure that the twins are growing.

At 23 weeks Maddie was ordered off work due to an onset of complications with twin B measuring only in the 1st percentile, a lot smaller (due to selective fetal growth restriction) than she should be. Maddie was also ordered on to very limited physical activity. Most recently at 25 weeks she went into threatened pre-labour with contractions, well before the girls are physically ready to be born, and was admitted to hospital indefinitely in the Gold Coast on forced bed rest until the twins can be born safely. We are hoping these cheeky little angels are able to stay inside for a few more weeks, until they join us earth-side at a reasonable and safe weight.

This has been very stressful emotionally, but also financially, with Mads being self-employed and ordered to finish work well ahead of their planned timeline, they have with no available assistance to make up for her income until maternity leave kicks in.

They are now preparing for the extended period of time that Maddie will be away from home up until and following on from the birth. They will need to find temporary accommodation to be close to the bubbas once they are born as it’s likely they will have to start their journey in this world with a little bit of extra help in the NICU and Maddie and Cam won’t be able to stay at the hospital past a certain point. On top of having to fund their own accom once Maddie is discharged from hospital, this will also mean lots of travel to and from NSW for Cam to be with his girls as often as he can.

We will ensure we keep everyone updated on the twins’ and mama’s progress through this portal and would be so so appreciative if you know them, that you could share this fundraiser with anyone else you know who is in Maddie and Cam’s community of friends and family to support this couple in their time of need.
