My daughter Macy was diagnosed in January 2013 with a rare autoimmune disease that attacks her vision called Pars Planitis. Macy has endured more in her 19yrs than most people their whole life. Besides still receiving monthly infusions at ACH, she’s had 2 cataract surgeries, numerous laser treatments, daily eye drops, and retinal detachments. The last retinal detachment caused her to lose all vision in her right eye. This past February, she had an enucleation, which is the removal of her right eyeball. Despite all of these challenges, Macy never meets a challenge she can't overcome. She's been a competitive gymnast and cheerleader. Macy won 1st in State for HOSA Sports Medicine and went on to place Top Ten Internationally. Macy's currently studying at UCA and plans on pursuing a degree in medicine as a Physician Assistant.
Macy had her surgery in February, yet we are still battling with BCBS for payment of a prosthetic eye. After going to her follow-up eye appointment today, the doctor said it is important that we get a prosthetic ASAP for the eye socket. As her mom, I hate asking for help, but we are at a loss. If you can donate to help get my girl a prosthetic eyeball, I'd be forever grateful to you. If you're unable to give, we will always take prayers. Thank you again!!!
