My name is Mackenzie, and I am a trans woman currently living in a remote area with my mother. I recently came out as trans, and while I hoped for understanding and support, my home environment has become increasingly transphobic and unsafe. My bank account is overdrawn, and finding work here is nearly impossible, which has made my situation even more difficult.
Despite these challenges, I am determined to create a better future for myself. I have been working hard to rebuild a camper so I can move to a city where it is safer to be trans and where I can find community and opportunity. The funds I raise will go directly toward my truck and camper payments, insurance, finishing the camper, and covering my moving expenses. Every bit of support will help me take the next step toward safety and independence.
As I write this, I am sitting in my room trying not to cry. Coming out to my family was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, and realizing that my mom isn’t willing to accept me has been heartbreaking. If you believe trans people when we share who we are, you know how much it hurts to live with someone who doesn’t. I need to leave, and your support—whether it’s a donation, a share, or just reading my story—means the world to me. Thank you so much for helping me on this journey.
