Help Mackenzie March with the Seattle Cascades Drum Corps!

Hi, I'm Mackenzie a.k.a. "MJ", a junior at McMinnville High School. I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been contracted to march with the Seattle Cascades Drum & Bugle Corps this summer! This 63-day tour is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do what I love—performing on the biggest stages in the marching band world—and I need your help to make it happen.
About Me:
I play mellophone in the marching band, trumpet in the jazz band, and French horn in the symphonic band.
Music has been my passion since I was young. I also sing in three choirs and love performing.
I’ve been honored with awards like Best Marcher (sophomore & junior years), the Metronome Award for always staying on beat (junior year), and received my varsity letter for the band my sophomore year. I’m currently the mellophone section leader and will be the Head Drum Major next year.
I also run track and work part-time as a lifeguard to contribute as much as I can to my tour expenses.
Why This Matters:
Marching with the Seattle Cascades will allow me to grow as a musician, improve my confidence for college auditions, and inspire me as I pursue my dream of becoming a music educator.
Balancing school, work, extracurricular activities, and family time is tough, but I’m committed to making this dream a reality. The MAC Band has shaped who I am by teaching me leadership, accountability, teamwork, discipline, and humility. I’ve met amazing people and learned life skills I wouldn’t have gained anywhere else. This tour will help me take everything I’ve learned to the next level and share an unforgettable experience with friends, both old and new.
The Cost:
To participate, I need to raise $5,000, which covers tuition, travel, uniforms, instruction, equipment, room & board, food, insurance, fuel, and operations.
How You Can Help:
Any contribution, no matter the size, will bring me closer to this dream. Your support means I’ll be able to experience one of the best summers of my life while doing what I love most: making music.
Thank You!
I’m so grateful for your generosity. To show my appreciation, I plan to:
✨ Post updates from the road about my experiences
✨ Send personal thank-you notes
✨ Call or visit donors with whom I have personal connections
Thank you for believing in me and making this life-changing journey possible.
