Hi, we are Cynthia, Manda, Angel, and Emily, and we are raising money for our friends, Kate and Mack Hupp, as Mack continues his battle with oligodendroglioma, a form of brain cancer.
We met Kate as college freshmen living on the same dorm floor. For over 20 years, we've kept in touch during many of life's ups and downs. So when Kate decided to take a trip to Ohio for a mutual friend's Halloween party, a few of us joined her and got to witness love at first sight when she met Mack. In fact, that night he told his friends "I'm going to marry that girl," which of course he did within the year!
Two years later, while Kate was getting their toddler, Evan, ready for Christmas Eve festivities, Mack went upstairs to grab something and passed out. When an MRI revealed a mass in his brain, their lives changed forever. Mack has courageously battled this beast for 10 years, and, unfortunately, it has reared its ugly head again. This time, Mack is undergoing brain surgery *while awake* to make sure that its resection doesn't impact his ability to speak or move. This surgery will be followed by more chemo and radiation treatments. The treatment and recovery process will be very slow and even more costly, and Mack will have to use at least a month of unpaid leave to deal with it.
We are asking on behalf of our dearest friends for you to please donate what you can to keep these wonderful people afloat while they continue their battle. It's been a long, hard road, and they've already exhausted most of their resources. Anything you can give would be so very appreciated.
Mack is a loving husband and a wonderful father. He's a hero who fought for his country. He's a great friend and an incredible cook. He's probably one of the most generous human beings on the planet. He and Kate are just lovely people who shouldn't have to deal with this. Thank you for your donation.
