Hello! You might know me as Mack or Clover Hare and I'm a queer artist who has been struggling for a bit. Due to medical issues/costs for me and my roommate, I have had to max out and stop paying down debts and cards that I have already been struggling to pay.
TW: Transphobia
Sales for artists all around have been down and that has been making it even harder to catch up. I haven't even been able to do much art for about a year due to the pain from my carpal tunnel halting almost all commission/merch design progress. Due to all of this I got a day job, but it still hasn't been enough. I finally got carpal tunnel surgery about 3 and a half months ago, but developed pillar pain in my dominant hand. This is a common side effect that tends to go away 3-6 months after CRT surgery, but sometimes lasts up to a year. Currently, gently bending my wrist at about a 45 degree angle is a 3-5 on the pain scale for me. In my other hand I can get it to a 90 degree angle and I just feel a stretch.
I had about a week or so right after surgery where I was able to do a couple commissions without pain. Since the pillar pain set in though it's hard enough keeping up with daily life tasks. Despite doing everything it says to help reduce this pain, I haven't seen much improvement so it will probably last a few more months. I have slowly been working on my queue and don't feel comfortable taking commissions again until I am no longer in this pain.
My roommate has been needing some intensive dental work after an accident and I am the main source of income for our household. I asked the periodontist for info on their upcoming surgery ahead of time and they kept saying they'd let us know closer to the surgery. The day before the procedure the anesthesiologist's office called saying it'd be $1,000/hour and would have to be paid by cash/check and the periodontist called to say it would be $6,000 for the surgery and would have to be paid immediately. The total came out to $8.5k which I had to quickly borrow money for, max out my card, and apply/max out another card for. During the procedure they constantly misgendered my roommate and after correcting them multiple times, my roommate confronted the anesthesiologist about it who then started mocking us and verbally fighting with both of us and calling us crazy and saying we should know better than anyone that it's just how it is and that we should deal with it. He had to be physically pushed out of the office by the periodontist because he was being so inflammatory and seemed to be enjoying upsetting and continually misgendering us. I will be looking into what can be done about this situation, but the main focus at the moment is getting financially stable again.
Here is a break down of the end goal:
Medical Loan - $3,500
Credit Card #1 - $6,000
Anesthesia - $2,500
Credit Card #2 - $1,000
Back taxes - $2,000
I know $15,000 is a lot and don't foresee reaching it, but wanted to be upfront about it all. Anything helps at the moment and if you prefer to support me thru my work, you can visit my Etsy shop (https://www.etsy.com/shop/CloverHare) or my personal site shop (https://cloverhare.com/). My site has been on and off getting bot orders, so if I have to shut it down again, feel free to DM me on Instagram or Bluesky @CloverHare to make an order.
Thank you for your time and support! <3
