Mack is a non-binary person residing in Chile who has a genetic disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Derived from this, Mack also has Tethered Spinal Cord Syndrome, leaving them paralyzed from the belly button down, as well as Chiari 1 Malformation, Syringomyelia in T6-T10, POTS, and MCAS.
Mack is raising money for necessary surgery, as well as a new wheelchair.
1. Travelling to the Insitiut Chiari de Barcelona for surgery.
Mack needs surgery in order to stop the progression of his Chiari 1 malformation. This surgery will greatly improve his health and quality of life, and will also help his Tethered Spinal Cord Syndrome.
2. A wheelchair that doesn't cause injury.
Mack 's legs are paralyzed and he is unable to move around without his wheelchair. His current wheelchair is extremely heavy and hard to propel, often causing him severe joint dislocations and pain in his shoulders, wrists, and hands. His wheelchair is also incorrectly sized, which further injures and damages Mack's body every time he pushes it. In addition, his current wheelchair offers no postural support, which is necessary for managing his conditions (EDS, Chiari, Syringomyelia, Tethered Cord, POTS).
