Help Maci Heal: Support Her Journey Through Functional Nausea & Gastroparesis
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your support for my sweet niece, Maci, who has been in the hospital since Saturday, July 26th, battling a complex and painful health crisis.
Maci has been diagnosed with a neurological condition called functional nausea, which is closely tied to a digestive disorder known as gastroparesis. While she’s no longer physically ill in the traditional sense, her brain and stomach are still misfiring—sending constant signals that make her feel severely nauseous, even when there’s no clear cause. It’s a frustrating and exhausting experience for anyone, especially a child.
To make things more difficult, doctors also discovered a type of E. coli bacteria in her system. They’re still unsure whether it’s contributing to her symptoms, but other children in the hospital have tested positive as well—raising concerns that she may have picked it up during her stay.
Maci’s treatment plan includes a minimally invasive procedure to stimulate the pylorus (a part of her digestive system), along with medications to help regulate the nausea signals from her nervous system. These treatments have given us hope that she’s finally turning a corner—with the goal of being discharged home soon.
Her mom has been by her side every step of the way, but the emotional and financial toll has been significant. Your support will go directly toward:
Medical procedures and hospital bills
Medications not fully covered by insurance
Transportation and meals while at the hospital
Living expenses while her mom takes time off work to care for her
Even if you’re not able to donate, please consider sharing Maci’s story with your friends, family, or community. Every bit of support—financial or emotional—helps more than you know.
Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, and prayers as we walk this journey with Maci. We’re hopeful she’ll be home soon, and your support is helping to make that possible.
