Hello, my name is Maci Barbour!
I am an ambulatory wheelchair user with multiple chronic illnesses. A few of the most challenging conditions mobility-wise are: Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, POTS, Addison's Disease, and Migraine with Unilateral Motor Symptoms. Combined, these conditions affect everything from how long I can be out of bed to passing out or having a seizure from standing up too long to creating severe joint damage.
In an effort to prevent further harm to my body, I switch between walking and using a wheelchair. I have previously used a manual wheelchair, but due to multiple shoulder surgeries, I can no longer propel myself. Having the use of an electric wheelchair would change my life.
Electric wheelchairs provide support for my joints and overall health, as well as a chance to participate fully in my life. I would no longer be constantly distracted by symptoms, but focused on the world around me. I could attend events and get-togethers that had been off-limits for several years.
This is where I need help from my community. There is a lightweight electric wheelchair that would change my life. Made by Paiseec, this wheelchair has a detachable battery, all-terrain wheels, a long battery life, is rainproof, TSA approved, and more. My favorite part of this wheelchair is that it can be folded in one click and placed inside the trunk of a car. No need for a trailer and straps. No more worries about someone rear-ending my wheelchair on the road or getting caught in a rainstorm. This is a wheelchair I would gain independence with.
With taxes and fees, the wheelchair I want (Paiseec 3-in-1 Electric Wheelchair W3) is $2,600. I know this is a large ask from people, especially in today's economy. Whatever could be donated towards this wheelchair is a huge gift. You would be making a life-changing difference in my life. If you can not help financially, sharing this page with your community is invaluable.
Thank you for reading my story and giving however you can! God be with you!
