Hi everyone,

We’re raising funds to support Eric “Macho” Camacho and his family during recovery from a serious leg injury sustained in a rugby match.

Macho is a hard-working father of three who recently moved back to Gainesville, holding down two jobs to support his family. Upon their return, he immediately rejoined the Gainesville Spartans where he had previously been a big presence both on the field and generally in the Spartans community. Macho is the kind of player every club wants – hits like a freight train at prop, shows his huge smile at the social afterward, brings his kids to practice, and even finds time to support the side hobbies of his club-mates. We want to show up for him the way he’s shown up for others.

During a match in early March, Macho suffered a significant leg injury in a tackle. He has been unable to drive since the injury and is expected to be off his feet for about 5-8 more weeks (~3 months total). Both of his jobs require him to be on his feet and only one of those has been able to accommodate his temporary limitations, so this injury has created an immediate financial gap for the household.

Donations will go directly toward paying medical bills. Funds raised past the target amount will go towards keeping the basics stable while he heals, including: rent and household bills, car payment, etc.
