Help MacHenry and The Dog Roses Make Their Debut Album

Hello,
Thanks for stopping by at our page. My name is Ethan Henry and I am an 18 year old student who is preparing to do the leaving certificate this year. I am one member of the 3 piece folk band ‘MacHenry and The Dog Roses’. We are hoping to raise funds to achieve our dream and record our debut album. With your help, we are hoping to make this dream a reality.
It's hard to put into words how much music and songwriting truly means to me.
I see it as a form of therapy, a break from the world, a way I can share my thoughts and feelings on different topics and issues, and not only help myself but also help others who are maybe going through something similar in life.
I got the bug from listening to my dad singing at barbecues at home when we would have family and friends around. This showed me the power of music, how it brought all my family together in one place. Consequently I started learning guitar and then writing original songs.
I can still remember the first time I performed for people in May of 2024. Our school was having a launch night for a book and I was asked to perform at it. I played a song I wrote about someone close to me who suffers with dementia, and what I was feeling in that situation. There was students, teachers and parents all listening and the song got a great reception.
This pushed me to enter the song in the national song competition ‘The Night and Day Fest’. My song ‘Lost in Space’ ended up winning the junior category and the prize was a day recording in a studio in Dublin and a chance to play at the festival. I headed up to Dublin in September with my band and we got two songs recorded.
We officially released ‘Lost in Space’ on the 1st of November 2024 and I’m delighted to say it performed very well for us. Only for the fact that I won a days recording I wouldn’t have gotten the chance to get the song recorded at all. This experience opened my eyes up to the expenses that are involved in recording music.
Every penny we receive will go towards the expense of making this album a reality:
• To hire out the studio
• To hire top class musicians
• Mastering
• Artwork for the album
• To get the album pressed
I am extremely lucky to have two of the most talented musicians I know with me, Victoria and Elizabeth Burcovschi. They have been right by my side every step of the way and honestly I couldn’t do this without them. I do realise that is it tougher nowadays to make it in the music industry. The younger you are the better chance you have at succeeding. I honestly believe that if we don’t go for it now, that our chance may pass us by. We really want to share our music with the world, and in doing so hopefully make it even a small bit better.
I would like to thank everyone who has supported us so far in our journey. People who turned up to our gigs or shared our music online, it doesn’t go unnoticed. Last but not least, I want to thank my dad for all his knowledge and help with songwriting and organising, thank my mam for being the bands taxi and being an honest critique, my brother Kelan for helping with our bands social media and Ludmila for always being a great support to us. A massive thank you to my family and friends who have been with me every step of the journey so far. A special thanks to my music teacher Grainne Glavey who constantly pushed me to get my music out in the world and got me to where I am now.
With your support we can make this journey go one step further. From the bottom of my heart, thank you
